They are excellent swimmers that chase each other around the tank. Blue/Gold gouramis are bubble nest breeders. They are not easily sexed, although the male has a slight pointed dorsal fin. Very accepting of all kinds of foods, they are best kept on a diet of good quality flake, frozen or live food, as well as spirulina flakes to balance the diet.

Blue Peacock Cichlid

The Blue Peacock Cichlid or Aulonocara nyassae is a popular species of Cichlidto keep in an aquarium. These beautiful freshwater fish originate from Lake Malawi in Africa. The male and female Blue Peacock Cichlid are very easy to tell apart, unlike a lot of other fish. The male is bright yellow with metallic blues, while the female is a brown or gray, not nearly as brightly colored. Males will even become brighter when they are spawning.

If you are thinking of buying a Blue Peacock Cichlid for your aquarium be sure you have one that will house 60 gallons of water or more. This species of Cichlidshould be given plenty of hiding spots, as well as rocks and a nice sandy bottom is ideal. The following water conditions are acceptable for this fish, 76-82° F, KH 10-15, and pH 7.8-8.6.

Blue Peacock Cichlids aren’t particularly aggressive, but if they are housed with other Cichlids in too small of an aquarium things can get a little testy. If you provide them with a few females per male they will tend to get along better.

When the Blue Peacock Cichlid breeds it will take about three weeks before the fry hatch. Females are mouth brooders, which means that they keep their eggs inside their mouth and can protect the young fry even after they are hatched by allowing them to swim into their mouths for protection. You can feed the young fry crushed flake food and brine shrimp. After they grow larger these carnivores should be fed live and frozen brine shrimp, flake food and Cichlid pellet food. These fish can grow to about 7″ when fully grown and can live about 12 years.

Currently approx 5cm

African Cichlids need to be kept only with other African Cichlids due to their high ph requirements and aggressive nature. They are the closest you will get to Marine colours at a much easier care aquarium.

Bristlenose – Albino

Bristlenose – Albino Ancistrus approx 3cm

Grow to 10-13cm
Tropical Fish

Photo is of an adult not the fish you are buying

Members of the Ancistrus group make superb aquarium catfish because of their algae cleaning behaviours. For general algae film removal these fish are ahead of the rest resulting in a clear view without the use of a glass cleaning magnet. Bristlenose catfish are able to do this because they have a sucker mouth with rasping teeth ideally suited to an algae diet. These fish also serve the purpose of cleaning up excess fish food as part of their feeding habits.

As the name suggests bristlenose catfish develop a bushy growth around the snout area.

Cherry Barb

Cherry Barb

Auction for one fish but more available and quantity has been added to this auction.

The cherry barb is an elongated fish with a relatively compressed body. It is fawn-colored on top with a slight greenish sheen. Its sides and belly have gleaming silver highlights. A horizontal stripe (brownish black to deep bluish black) extends from the tip of the snout through the eye to the base of the caudal fin. Above it is an iridescent, metallic line, gold at the front turning to blue or sea green toward the tail. Males are redder than females, and they attain a very deep red color when breeding. Females are lighter, with yellowish fins. The cherry barb will grow to 2 inches (5 centimeters) in length.

This peaceful cherry-red fish is most often kept in community tanks by fish keeping hobbyists. The cherry barb is a schooling fish and is best kept in groups of five or more individuals. It is also best to keep a ratio of two females to one male. The male will constantly harass the females to breed, and by this ratio, it gives the females a small break.

Clown Loach 6cm

Clown Loach

Approx 6cm

Young Clown Loaches thrive in groups.

The tank should have subdued lighting, a soft, preferably sand substrate, and numerous hiding places provided made from rock-work or driftwood. Plants should be strong and resilient because large Clowns can be hard on them. They may uproot them, or punch holes in the leaves. Plant species must be capable of low-light environments.

Clowns are somewhat nocturanal in nature and often very lively in the early morning and after dusk. The addition of a blue moon light tube, or some other form of blue lighting, phased to come on before the main lights, and go off after them, will allow the owner to observe the fish at their most liveliest and entertaining. This will also avoid the fish being shocked by a sudden change in brightness.

Water parameters: pH 6.5 – 7.0, Hardness: aim for softer water, Maximum DH: 12

Temperature: 78F to 83F (25-30C)
